I began my teaching journey with Teach for Australia, a not-for-profit organisation with the mission to address educational disadvantage in our country. Through this program, I obtained a Masters of Teaching, specialising in Internationalisation and with Maths, Science and Environmental Science as my learning areas. My teaching placement through Teach for Australia took me to Numurkah Secondary College, where I gained 2 years of experience teaching maths at years 7, 8, 9 and 10, to students who displayed a wide variety of learning needs and abilities. I was then lucky to gain 3 years of experience teaching at St Michael’s Grammar School in Melbourne. Here I taught year 7 through to year 10 as well as VCE Mathematical Methods and VCE General Maths at the year 11 level. After leaving teaching to have kids, and missing the interaction with students and the satisfaction of helping them, I decided to start doing private tutoring. I am especially interested in the home education scene, and hope to be able to support families who are transitioning out of the school system as a result of the challenges presented in the Covid era. I love teaching and I hope to continue to build confidence in maths within the students under my care. I am registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, and I have a Working With Children Check and a Police Background Check.
